The Quail Island (Otamahua) Ecological Restoration Trust undertakes conservation and restoration work on Quail Island, one of three islands in the Canterbury region. The aims of the Trust are to: Facilitate the restoration of indigenous vegetation and fauna on Quail Island and provide refuge for locally extinct or rare and endangered species of the Banks Peninsula region, Encourage relevant research, Encourage public understanding through education and by awareness, Encourage care of the island and understanding of its historical, cultural and natural values.
