The Lower Avon Heritage Trail group formed to conserve heritage in the red zoned corridor along either side of the Avon River from The Bricks to the Estuary. The purpose of this conservation is to illustrate the stories of settlement (from pre-European to the present time). This means saving homes from all periods, trees, gardens and other historic elements. The Heritage Trail will be of interest to local and foreign visitors and of use to the people of Christchurch.
