Working Bees are held at the garden on the first and third Wednesday each month from 10am onwards. The Community Garden came into being on the 6th October 2013 as a group of students from the Student Volunteer Army, members of the Riccarton West Neighbourhood Policing team and residents of the local community came to together to dig the bare land and prepare the site for planting. The land has been loaned to the community of Riccarton by Housing New Zealand on a year to year basis with a contract signed between the two parties.
